ROCKY JONES Space Ranger made its debut on American television in the early 1950s starring Richard Crane as Rocky Jones. Taking place in the not-too-distant future, this interplanetary adventure series follows the exploits of the Space Rangers as they patrol the Solar System. Rocky and his crew were called upon to bring law and order to Earths exotic and alien outlying areas known as the United Worlds. Supporting cast members include Scotty Beckett as Cadet Winky, copilot and sidekick; and Sally Mansfield as Vena Ray, navigator and assistant.
The Space Rangers roam the stars in their rocket shaped craft, Orbit Jet X-V2, taking them to the most remote corners of the Galaxy. Accompanied by the brilliant scientist, Professor Newton, played by Maurice Cass, the Space Rangers travel to bizarre and unknown planets and moons to face evil with bravery and goodness.
ROCKY JONES, Space Ranger was moderately sophisticated for the 1950s; special effects and props found in many of today's space adventures were shown for the first time on this series; including automatic doors and omnipresent view screens.
ROCKY JONES, Space Ranger aired only one season. While many similar television shows of that time were recorded live, Rocky Jones, Space Ranger was produced on film, allowing it to survive as it was originally aired; just like the old-time movie series. The episodes are grouped into three-part feature length stories, which were originally aired on consecutive weeks. This two DVD set brings you four of these stories, broken down to twelve exciting episodes in all.
